Both the Churchill and Phillip Island etchings were made as commissions for the Phillip Island Nature Park at the beginning of 2002. I travelled to both islands to make drawings. The writing quotes Lt. James Grant who named the island after a Mr Churchill in Devon, England, who gave him the "seeds and stones" which were planted around the house to establish a European garden. The other quote is from the Yaluk Baluk people, the original owners and inhabitants of the region. The beautiful description includes the seasoned use of the land and the cycles of the flora and fauna.
