The tall pointy Nankeen night herons like to roost together in the swamp paperbarks. One was seen sleeping high up in a Kingscote garden gum . They feed in the samphire meadows, wetlands and swampy estuaries of our Island. Sometimes they need to eat a left over picnic . Here a scattering, a sedge and a siege of herons stalk out at dusk.
