This was drawn at the time of my father's death. He had been a sheep farmer and, as a child, I would often accompany him to check the sheep. We would sometimes go by the low marsh flats and the ibis would rise. "A lot of people have gone today," he would comment, telling me of the Egyptians' belief in the dead spirits going with the water birds. It is a celebration of a loved parent's life.
